Canned pumpkin in your supermarket is pumpkin puree. Just make sure you don't buy the pie filling that has added sugar etc. Read the label. You should be able to find this in almost any store.

Ethel

Pumpkin pie filling is really acorn squash which is brown in color.
Pumpkin puree is really not hard to make especially when you think how cheap pumpkin is after Halloween.
i make all my pumpkin pies from scratch and the process of prepping the pumpkin consists of peeling; which we do with many veggies;
cutting into cubes which we do with lots of food products;
and pressure cooking the cubes into a mush.
There; that wasn't so hard, was it?
Your pies will be very lite orange in color so all will know you did the work out of love for them and tradition.
There that ought to be enough to con you into doing it once for the troops.

Dorothy

I've seen it in my grocery store before it was by the pumpkin pie filling. I would call the store and ask. If they don't have it some stores are willing to order it.

Javier

Sorry, but these days shipping is high on anything you buy through the mail. The best thing you can do is go from supermarket to supermarket and ask a clerk if they carry it.
